can anyone advise how i can permanently prevent an annoying member from re-registering? everytime i delete his account he just re-registers again when are we going to be able to view peoples ip numbers even when they don't post and ban/delete them permanently by their ips? i know i can personally vet each new member but all they have to do is use a new email account which i don't recognise and i'll let them in until i check the moderation panel for a link - i need to establish a link straight away and prevent access to my forum any help please?

thanks kimmy but that still defeats the purpose as until i log in and check for links he will have full access to the forum many other free forum providers allow you to see the ip and ban them using the ip - i feel aceboard falls short on this issue this guy just keeps re-registering and there seems to be nothing i can do about it

well, I don't know what to tell you. I think it's kinda stupid too that you can't see the ip until the person is accepted and posts. umm you can also change the settings in your email to show the ip addy of incoming emails, and then if he applies, email him at the addy he applies with, and when you get a response you will be able to see his ip and you can compare it to the one you have?

banning IPs only works until the connection is active unless the web-user is having a fix IP Address what does not happen very often. If you set up to mannually accept the registrations, you will be able to check the "multinick" and figure out whever this goo member is still the same. Then you just have to deny the registration. All this without having this member to post.

hey oliver, I have my board set to manually accept, and had a member that we deleted. Anyways, she reapplied, and it did not show multinick??

you should ban and mass delete all the posts, not delete the member itself ![]()

yep, different computers might prevent the multinick to be detected.

along with what oliver said, just ban the meber, not delete, or you could change the settings to manual registration so you have to let him register through e-mail
