if no one else is gonna ask, i will. no one could access any aceboards, including the support forum, this morning for hours! why? was there a fatal error? anyone able to answer this one? having hosted my forum here for just 6 weeks now, i guess i should ask... is this something that is expected and will it happen often? is that why no one else has asked? i had a lot of upset members this morning. i would like to know if i should consider another server. thank you.

it was not expected. this is not happenning very often (my forum is 4 years old...)
This is not related to the servers.

The problem was due to a power failure.

ya it doesn't happen often... and when it does, the aceboard guys are really great at getting it back up asap

it happened to me as as well and a few times if i remember correctly.  Yeah its annoying but then i realize it costs me nothing to have my forum other than the little bit i paid to register my domain.  I usually just wait an hour and try again and it works.  Glad we are all back up and running..peace to all

actually... i've known all along about the free forum thing. in fact, i haven't paid one cent.

this one took 5 hours. that is why i voiced my concern. thanks for sharing, though.

Has happend more often over the past week or so, but we have had our forum since November and the problems like that have happened rarely...

I still can't get into my forum and neither can my members. This has happened pretty much every day for the past week. Not enjoying the 30 e-mails every morning from my members freaking out.

Same here i havent been able to get on my forum or this one for more than 24 hours keeps saying connection timed out ,or cannot connect then now that i am on im getting red x's were the forum buttons should be like the screen shot below but all the other images are loading as normal.

hmm that's weird, I'm not having any problems with mine now.. last night I was tho.

Mondays blackout lasted 5 hours. this one lasted at least 10. but hey, its free, right? i get the emails from my members, too. what can i tell them when, even as an admin, i get no information from anyone at aceboard as to what the problem may be, and there is no convenient way to check the server status? but hey, its free, right? i thought when i got home from work there might at least be a "sorry the forums were down for half a day" email or something... but i guess i have my expectations set too high for a service i dont pay for.

dont get me wrong. i like it here. its just unfortunate that the admins are put in a situation where they lose members, and have no answers for them, especially after working so hard to get a few here and there in the first place.

thanks for letting me rant a little. cant do that in my group. i come here looking for support. thats all. better to unload it here, right?

plus... i had a rough day in the real world as well, so i gotta admit... im bringing some background climate to the table, too.

oh and just wanted to add.. I have a back up forum for my board. It is not aceboard. So that if aceboard does go down, atleast my members have somewhere to go.. just an idea

hhmmmm and i as admin on my forum am not allowed to mass email my members more than once in a week because its considered spamming???? all i wanted to do was let them know they could use the forum again.

Is that a week as in 5 working days or 7 days?

That IS a good idea, Kimmy. i did the same a month ago. i have a back-up board, just sitting there, waiting for the final shoe to drop hoping that it doesnt, of course. i like these forums better than my back-up, even though it has its advantages as well. i mentioned the existence of the back-up group to my members, this morning. always a good idea for other admins in here. thanks for being more thoughtful than i was, by putting it out there
