Is there anyway to make the forums open to people who havent registered? So they can just post as guest?

Do posters HAVE to register before posting?

Looking at my set up, it seems people do have to register first, but you can make it so that registration doesn't need e-mail confirmation.
Personally speaking, making people register should cutdown on nuisance members.

Its a double edged sword, our forum has a lot of "guests" browsing, but only 49 members.

We have been running just under 5 months and we expected to have more members by now.

Some of your guests could be members who have chosen to be anonymous when online. Sign out of your forum and then visit it to see what people can see, whos on line etc. I also registered under a seperate name to see how the e-mail registration process worked to help a member out who was having difficulty getting on. Certainly taught me a few useful things because I wanted a private forum for members only. Its now 2 months old with 65 members, and even I get a few guests.

What kind of forum do you run?, ours is a history based forum (WW2), linked to our companyy website (militaria)

History Bunker, could you post a link ? I have a friend who I am sure would love to check it out.

I have a fishing based website, which specialises in one particular species, and my forum is linked to the site itself. Started the website for a bit of fun May last year and the forum October this year.

Yep please put up a link, I know someone who may also be interested.
