How can I change the layout of the date of the posts??

right now it is mm/dd/yy I would like it to be dd/mm/yy as we do it here in the States.

I'm in the UK, and mine is dd/mm/yy, and you cannot change it. Perhaps you had the choice when registering to choose how you wanted it, but now its set thats it.
