I was wondering how exactly I could but a link on the forum index page of my forums to go directly to the chat section of my site...I need help!

do you mean you have a chat room link on your board and you want a link to it on the main page? if so, you can put a link in your administrator welcome message

yes thats what I mean, but I want to keep the chat site private and the admin. message is public...

If you want to put the link to your chat room someplace where only members of your forum can access it, post the link to it in one of your forums and make the forum "Private" for members only.

Also, and another way is, you can make your chat room private so only the people you've add manually to the chat rooms members list and allowed to become members of are all registered members of your forum. If you do it that way you can keep your link to your chat room on the main page under the welcome message but no one can access your chat room except for the people you have made members of it.

Check out my forum and under the welcome message click the link that says "Live Chat" and you'll see my chat room but you won't be able to access it to read the messages or actually enter the room. All you'll see is the front door or the chat room where members login at. Thats because my chat room is private for registered members only that I've added manually from my forum.

ok, so how do I make my chat room private? The chat room is actually a google page I made with a chat box in it.  Also, how did you get that scrolling news thing on your forum?

So your chat room is on a Google page, then I'm assuming its a Google chat room then. If thats the case, just look into your chat room settings and find where you can make it private and to only allow 'you' to add the members to it. I don't know about Googles chat rooms but I would think you can set it to private someway.

My chat room is from "shoutmix.com" also called a "Shoutbox" and I made a webpage for it and added the embedded code of the shoutbox to the page. Actually, the chat room/shoutbox is on my website I made especially for the forum complete with music videos and media players, and other things like a "Forum Rules" pages.

So check out your google chat room settings.
