It would be nice to be able to explain to those we have brought to our various sites what is happening and when we can expect it to be dealt with.

If I was able to get in touch with the owner of aceboard I would gladly let you know what is going on. But, I have not heard from him in quite sometime. I have no access to the servers. All I have access to is moderation on this board. I feel your pain, I have an aceboard myself and am experiencing everything that you all are.

Thank you Kimmy. That alone helps use to understand at least part of the issue.

I will also say that right now. My board is rocking. Pages are flying. Life is gooooood. When its like this, you couldn't drag me away.

I'm noticing a very interesting pattern here, and it goes back to what Oliver said in an earlier post. He mentioned that Aceboards has more than just one server. I've noticed that in the United States (where I live), in the nighttime hrs, my forum is "Rocking" and you couldn't ask for it to be faster - then in the morning and mid afternoon hrs it goes back to a snails crawl again. So what I'm thinking is the contributing factor of these 'fast then slow' and then 'slow/fast again forums is, is because they're giving all the forums specified allotted amounts of time on the 'fastest server' and then later switch those forums back to the slow server, giving all of them equal time on the fastest server. This is probably because one server can't handle all the forums at once and is why they have two servers in the first place. But now one of them is bad and they're switching them around so all of them have some time on the fastest server everyday.

So if this is the case, and my slow/fast scenario is correct, lets just hope that they don't plan on doing this forever and that they "consider" replacing the bad server (that we all have to experience some time on), and fix the bad one or get a new one altogether.

runaway, that makes sense. Because right now, its horribly slow, so much that my members can barely chat. But at night, it gets a faster.

I've also noticed its really slow on Sundays. Don't know if that makes a difference.

But I too, would pay for a faster server. My board just turned six months old and I really don't want to move it because I love aceboard. But my members have been posting less and less!

much faster right now with Opera or Firefox, instead of Internet Explorer.

Comparing Firefox to Internet Explorer is like comparing a Ford to a Ferrari - Ford being the latter.

It seems to be going fast right now, and I always use Firefox.

Not an English forum ^^^. Which won't be a problem for some, but it is for me. By the way, for some reason your forum likes to lock up my browser. I don't know why, it's wierd.

Didn't you say that you were on dialup bukizzle? Thats the reason for your "lock up".

The Websites now days is very quickly turning into a "fast connection" only type internet. Thats because more and more of the sites being build are from people using a fast connection. They build the sites around what works good for them.

Dialup is a thing of the past and will be unusable in a few years because it won't be able to handle the load of the new sites that are being made by people using a fast connection. The faster the connection the more images and material are put on a single page by that user because it doesn't affect the load time to them.

Unfortunately, for the people who can't get access to a high-speed cable connection or other type of fast connection, will be left out to only surfing the old sites with very little on them. New site will not be usable to them becuase of the load time.

Much like AceBoard is right now, un-usable. I am trying very hard to be patient and I really want to stay with AceBoard but I don't see that as a possibility unless something changes. No response from the administrator, no promise of improvement. My forum is still going only because the members are troopers. There were a couple days there when things moved but for the last several days it is slower than my 90 year old grandmother.

I have a lot of graphics as well as a shoutbox on my forum.

If I got rid of them, would that make the page loads faster?

If you have dial-up (like I do) removing graphics and shoutboxes would definatly make your pages load faster, if you have DSL or better, probably not.

I agree with bukizzle that it would definitely be faster for dialup if you cut back on the graphics and removed the shoutbox.

But your page was completely loaded for me in about 5 seconds, and I use a high-speed cable connection and my computer has a dual core processor, so it was no problem for me. But I've used dialup before in the past, and I'd say judging from my experience with that size page you have, on dialup it would take about 2-3 minutes to completely load, but thats just a estimation.

I think most of my members have DSL, so I will leave as is! Thanks!

Yes, I agree you should leave everything as is, most people have a fast connection these days and your site didn't have enough on it that could present a problem to anyone.

Oh and BTW, very nice page, good job!
